While the impact of Russia’s February 2022 invasion of Ukraine has been felt most acutely by Ukraine’s people, the war has posed challenges not just for Europe more broadly, but the world. Africa is no exception, and in the short term, there will be negative impacts on society’s most vulnerable segments in several of Sango’s core countries. However, in the medium and long term, we see a number of opportunities for African business and our investing partners, as the vacuum left by the withdrawal of Russian supply from global export markets can, in some cases, be partially or completely filled by Africa.
